Weird Giraffe Games

Our Team

Company Overview

We're two engineers and a cat based in Huntsville, Alabama! We are dedicated to creating engaging games focused on player choices & layered with strategy.

Company Start

We've both been interested in games for awhile, but then we went to a 'How to make a board game' panel at Dragon*Con in 2015, made notes for Super Hack Override on the way home, funded on Kickstarter in October 2016, and now we're designing our next games! We would love to talk to you, so feel free to contact us in any way and our contact information is here.

Carla

Carla is the lead designer, developer, and webmaster of Weird Giraffe Games. She's also the art director and runs all of the social media. She tends to do the interviews and make the decisions, as well! If you're talking to anyone from Weird Giraffe Games, it'll probably be her!

Carla is also a software engineer, with a Masters in Electrical Engineering, and loves to work with electrical and other hobby projects when she's not working on games. She's an introvert, has narcolepsy, and almost always chooses green when it's an option.

You can find Carla at the following locations:

Nick

Rocket Scientist by day, Game player by night, and pilot on the weekends, Nick's multiple degrees in Engineering makes him an expert at game design... in his own mind. Nick takes care of the business side of Weird Giraffe Games, from taxes to distribution.

David Bruglia

David is our General Manager and represents Weird Giraffe Games on the west coast. He enjoys playtesting games at all stages, providing thoughtful feedback, and being an all-around helpful person. As the self-proclaimed Captain of Fun at Weird Giraffe Games, David strives to make every interaction as entertaining and engaging as possible.

Marti Mahood-Wormuth

Marti Mahood-Wormuth is the hype master at Weird Giraffe Games - she takes care of a little bit of everything in relation to communications and social media at WGG.

It's hard to define what Marti does in her day to day life. She writes ad copy and takes care of social media management for several small businesses. She is the "Magical Unicorn" (Jill of all Trades) at the church that she and her wife Sarah attend, the editor at Open Seat Gaming, and cat mom to her supervisor, Mr. Boots.

Marti is a busy person, but she always has time to say hi. You can find her here:

Monique Bishop

Monique is the booth manager and convention sales liason at Weird Giraffe Games. She's amazing and so uniquely Monique.

Fluffins

Fluffins is the quality inspector cat of Weird Giraffe Games. He monitors our progress and makes sure it's up to Fluffins standards. Also, occasionally knocks things over.

Justin Bird

Living a life defined by a variety of boxes. By day I get paid to design Elevators Interiors. I then come home and focus on what is inside Cardboard boxes. I love all things gaming, from playing, learning, teaching, (attempting to) design, playtesting, and rules editing. Be it at a Convention, game night, or online I do what I'm able to help everyone play games and have fun doing it. If you heard a big Howdy or Y’all around the Weird Giraffe Booth this past year, it was probably me. I’ll leave you with my motto: “Play Games, Spread Joy”.

Charlie Jackson

Charlie is a word-slinging, pen-pushing polisher of prose who loves molding content-rich writing into masterpieces. With that said, he admits that it takes little effort to brush aside the metaphorical bits of dust and debris to reveal the beautiful blog-etry of Carla's blog.

Aside from his forays into forming and framing fanciful nonfiction, he works as a social media director for OnlineBookClub.org, is a former book reviewer, and partakes in flights of fancy in tabletop game design. His kryptonite is alliteration and run-on sentences, each of which he overindulges in frequently (as you can see).
